Sharon Spinetti: Biography

Sharon Spinetti

Sharon Spinetti began her International career in 1990 as Soprano Soloist in the Verdi Requiem at the Sacred Music Festival in Nice, France. She was immediately engaged to open the Opera Season at Opera Nice singing the roles of Giorgetta and Suor Angelica in Puccini's "Il Trittico".
For the next fourteen seasons, Miss Spinetti sang the leading Soprano roles of Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Le Villi, La Boheme, Turandot,La Traviata, Othello, La Forza Del Destino, Aida, Attila, Falstaff, Il Trovatore, Arianna in Creta, Scipio,La Straniera, Norma, Maria Stuarda, Faust, Pagliacci, Cavalleria Rusticana, Zanetto, Fedora, Marriage of Figaro and Mahagonny as well as such Contemporary works as: Venus and Adonis of Henze, Johnny Spielt Auf of Krenek and Occhi Miei Traditricci of Sciarrino. She performed these roles in the major Opera Houses of Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland. Italy, Israel, Mexico, Columbia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Canada and the United States.
Ms. Spinetti recently sang the World Premier of the late GiamPaolo Bracali's "Il Tramonto Della Luna" and Luciano Berio's "Folk Songs" at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.
In 2005, Ms. Spinetti joined forces with Latin Jazz trumpeter Ray Vega. They formed " Ambos Mundos-The Spinetti/Vega Project" where they have melded the voice instrumentally with trumpet,vibraphone - James Shipp/bass-Chris Haney/and drums-Brian Adler/ in a unique approach to Classical, World and Jazz musical literature. The New York premier of Ambos Mundos on November 5th at Wave Hill was met by standing ovation to a sold-out audience. The live CD was released in the Fall of 2007. Ambos Mundos will release the studio single "Bailero" this summer.
Ms. Spinetti teaches Voice and Italian in her private studio in New York City, and is an Adjunct Voice Professor at New Jersey City University. She also conducts Master Classes in Voice in the U.S. and Internationally.
